Community Ensemble |
Purpose of community ensemble program:
- to offer (all levels) of students and makers of rhythm, song and dance a place to practice and perform the music they enjoy
- to bring these performances to community events and activities as a means of raising awareness and promoting what we do
- to bring the rhythm, song and dance from a variety of traditions and cultures together, thereby expanding cross cultural awareness and understanding
The intention would be to have a paid ensemble director with all other participation being voluntary. The first set of songs would be beginner level and come from differing traditions. Those songs would be ones available through local classes. Drum Central would book the ensemble for performances and presentations as a way to promote what we do, raise funds and provide reasonably priced performances and presentations to educators. Success from this program would mean adding a second performance set and intermediate level songs. Continued success would see the community ensemble be a training place for all levels of performers and the probability of professional level ensembles (in Boise!) being more commonplace.
